Two of my regular buddies who I know for years always give me their prediction list which I LOVE it because its nice to see people outside of PageantRocks.
Jamaica, Philippines, Canada, Russia, Puerto Rico, Ukraine, Ecuador, Australia, Colombia, USA, Italy, Venezuela, Spain, Costa Rica, Argentina and wild cards are Thailand, Ghana and Indonesia.
Finland, Venezuela, Czech Republic, Mexico, Brazil, India, Russia, Ecuador, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, USA, Indonesia, Spain and the winner is Argentina and the wild cards: Thailand, Sweden, Jamaica, Dominic Republic, and Ukraine.
First of all, I am so happy that Colombia won even I know there are a lot of people are upsetting about her winning. They rather Jamaica or USA over Colombia. I fell in love with her when she arrived to Doral. I knew she has Miss Universe look and will do very well as Miss Universe. However, I was shocked that Spain didn’t advanced in top 5. She should have been up there period. I would put Spain and Argentina in top 5 instead of the top 5 that judges picked.
Three long hour and they only picked top 15 which I think it was NOT fair at all because of Miss USA had 20 and it made sense to do one hour of announcing it but 15?! There were some surprises that I was not expecting- Indonesia, India (even her face is pretty and one of best indian that they sent to Miss Universe since Lara Dutta won Miss Universe 2000).
I wasn’t surprised about Philippines in top 15 but was surprised that she went that far for top 10. I felt like that Italy should have placed in top 10 because she’s stunning and I liked her. I was happy to see Italy finally be placed after all of the years that haven’t placed. But I was shocked that they didn’t have Dominic Republic up in top 15 and even top 5! She was one of the girls I was looking at for top 5. I also was wondering why Ecuador wasn’t up there too because I have seen that country on every single pageant blogs and many experts saying that she is in their top 15, and some of them said top 5. I can see why Slovak Republic and Serbia didn’t make in top 15 because of their performance on the stage at the preliminary. They disappointed many of us because they were favorites to some of us. I love Russia and would love to see her pass to top 10 to show her dress because her dress is to die for, however, I can see why she didn’t placed in because of her attitude. I can sense that from the pictures and at the preliminary night. I was also surprised to not to see Puerto Rico. They always send gorgeous girls to Miss Universe. I am glad she won Miss Photogenic. I see bigger things happening for her in the future.
As for evening gowns, I was disappointed that Argentina didn’t wear the preliminary gown because that one stood out compare to the one she wore at the finals, because thats pretty much in common for girls to wear similar dress. I was shocked about Venezuela’s dress because you literally can see her shoes! Usually Venezuela girls are flawless with the evening gown. Migbilis shouldn’t hem her dress, drop it on the floor and make it look more stunning. I loved USA, Australia, Jamaica, and Ukraine.
I wished Venezuela wait for a few years then it can be all hers. She is only 19 years old but she looks older on the stage. I didn’t like the head movement from Philippines when she did a little of head tilting. That was turned off for me. I also didn’t like Jamaica walk away immediately after she answered the questions. She’s gorgeous. She should have stayed a little longer so we all can stare at her beauty. But I can understand why people were upset about her placing as 4th but maybe judges saw and knew something about her that we didn’t. I would put her as 2nd runner up instead of 4th runner up. I was happy to see how USA did. It was amazing to feel that excitement just like when they had Shandi, Miss USA 2004 as 1st runner up to Jennifer Hawkins from Australia. It is exactly 10 years later for both Miss USA as first runner up. I see that Nia will be very successful after her reign is over. She is clearly loved by many people and people spoken frequently about her.
I have seen the controversy about Jamaica. I want to say that I was very proud of her and her performance. I knew if she didn’t win, she will go very far. She reminds me of Halle Berry and I know her life has changed from announcing as 4th runner up.
One thing I didn’t like about Netherlands- If you saw her performance with swimming suit and at the near end, she had her hands up and asking people to cheer for her. I think that was tactless. Thats where I didn’t want her to go for top 5. I didn’t like her dress also but at same time, its nice to have in yellow. How often do we get to see that color in the pageant? So I was torn in between of dislike and like it.
I had to go back to Spain, I watched numerous of time on the DVR and I am still in love with Spain. She reminds me of Zuleyka Rivera. I loved her presence on the stage and she is drop dead gorgeous – I wish she was in top 2 for Miss Universe. They have been sending strong Spain girls to Miss Universe. I loved last year, 1st runner up and this year.
I am pretty much happy with the result for the winner, since I predicted her with Spain for top 2. I hope this year, Miss Universe would be at great location and hopefully can attend Miss Universe and please have the date earlier this year than later in the year.
