I won’t be writing too long about this because I have written about this a year ago. However, I want to make this a special one because Charisse Haislop, a well-deserved person, who I have worked with for the last year or so. I also visited West Virginia three times and every time, I come to West Virginia, it was all about pageants. We even drove to Michigan to get her dress altered. We shared many girls’ nights together, with laughter, food, and pageant talk! Charisse is one of the most amazing people I have ever known. She’s very genuine, kind, and sincere. I am very fortunate to have known her and have her as one of my pageant families. When you get to know her, you will fall in love with her, just as I did!
I had another commitment on the same weekend as West Virginia USA, so I was unable to go for both days. However, I told myself, I couldn’t miss Charisse’s competition, so I went to the pageant on the second day. Even though I was exhausted and heavily jet-lagged, it was totally worth it! After finishing my commitment to an event in the Bay Area, I rushed to the airport for a red eye flight to West Virginia. My connecting flight in Atlanta was delayed by one hour, which got me worried a little bit because I wanted to make sure that I was in the audience when the opening number started. Fortunately, I arrived 30 minutes before the pageant started. So I had a chance to change clothes and get myself refreshed. I usually have my final predictions and comments about swimming suits and evening gowns, but not this time because I wasn’t there the night before. I only know that Andrea Turner, Erin Given, and Charisse Haislop will be in the top 5 automatically. Charisse had one of the best evening gowns in the Miss. division after seeing Erin Given wearing the same dress from last year’s competition. Fast forward to announcing the top 5, I wasn’t nervous because I knew Charisse would be in the top 5. But when it got to announcing the runner-ups and winner. Lexi, youngest sister of Charisse, grabbed my hands and that was when I got really nervous, excited, and happy.
After attending various pageants, I have to say, Charisse is the one of the girls that stole my heart. She was drop dead gorgeous when I saw her on stage. I loved her priceless reaction every time Randy announced the runner ups. She was gasping each time. That was priceless moments. She is a very humble person and just enjoyed her moment on the stage. When they announced Erin and Charisse as the top 2, that moment was all blurry because so many different emotions came pouring into me. When Charisse was announced as Miss West Virginia USA 2014, all I could remember that I was jumping up and down with full of joy, feeling speechless and very proud of her. She had one of the best drop knee down reaction I ever saw in my pageant life, and it came from her pure and beautiful heart in a very humble and amazing way that nobody could ever forget. Everything happened so fast that night and I wanted to freeze that moment to cherish and enjoy every second of it.
I was happy with the results for the Miss division and the top 2 in the Teen division. I knew that these two would end up there. Congratulations to Lexsey Marrara. I know she will do very well as Miss Teen USA after two years of placing in the top 5 at Miss Teen USA. I also expect to see Ciera Fields win the title someday as Miss West Virginia Teen USA or Miss West Virginia USA.
I cannot wait for the day when Charisse walks on the stage at Miss USA 2014. I know she will do an amazing job there! Here I come to Miss USA for an entire week! See y’all there!
