This trip to California USA is extra special because I have been in touch with a few girls for a few years, Coco Hunter, Natasha Martinez, Jena Michelle Cecil, and Amanda Delgado. I have heard a few names that I have always want to see them in person. They all are gorgeous in person. I also know in person, Gabriella Deyi and Athenna Crosby from Miss Greater Bay Area when I judged them in that pageant.
I have decided a few months ago that I am coming down to cheer on for Natasha because we have been friends for a few years and spoken on social media number of time. California is one of the well known very competitive state and usually have over 200 girls competing every year.
It was also nice to see some friends that I have met in the past. — It was nice to see Kristen Bradford. I finally had a chance to meet Lissette Garcia, Miss Florida USA 2011 after tagging back and forth missing each other at other pageants in the past. We had a fabulous time sitting together at the prelims. We both had our picks for Miss and Teen 🙂 We both agree with some girls that will be in top 20, 10 and 5. We both had our pick for the Teen. We guessed it right.
Preliminary was 4 hours long. I loved preliminary because we get to see all of the girls in their swimming suits and their choice of evening gowns. Evening gowns are my favorite out of the whole show. I fell in love with three teen’s dresses: West Coast, Brea Canyon and Silver Strand. I started to noticed that I like ball gown and in two piece of ball gown- It is appropriate for Teen to wear that at the pageant. There were some girls that had the “Miss” look dress that makes them look like Miss.
I fell in love with 12 evening gowns in Miss division, Costa Mesa, Carlsbad, Santa Anita Park, High Desert, Diamond Crest, Northern Sierra, Melrose, Del Mar, Ventura County, Universal City, Los Angeles County and Irvine. All of those 12 dresses have unique impression on me.
I never get all top 20 right, I usually have at least 50% right, but, for the first time this year in 2014- I predicted a lot of girls as winner for Class of 2015 for Miss Teen USA and Miss USA. I am very proud that I predicted BOTH ( Miss and Teen) correct for Miss California USA. California is a very competitive state along with Texas, New York, and some of RPM’s and Greenwood Productions.
All of the top 5 girls for Miss and Teen were in my top 20 list when 4 out of 5 for Teen. When I saw Melanie on the stage, I instantly knew she would be in top 5 and she was my pick to win Teen when I had Natasha for Miss.
A few things that I love about California girls- they are supportive to each other and I have spoken to number of girls at preliminary, after the show, and girls that I know for a while- they all spoken nicely about each other. I love that because thats what pageant should be all about. Unfortunately, only one winner for Miss and Teen. I believe that everyone is winner in their own eyes. All California girls are gorgeous! I also loved when they announced top 20, 10, and 5 with closer pictures and I was able to see their sashes and know who they were so I can be able to keep posted for people who can’t be at the pageant. I want everyone to feel involved on social media by reading my updates.
A few girls I was very surprised for not being in top 20,10, and 5— Northern Sierra- Savannah Ellison not even in top 20! What the heck! She was stunning on the stage and had one of the best impeccable evening gowns I ever seen. She was in my top 8 for Miss California USA. I couldn’t have top 5 because all were stunning! Another huge surprise- Hollywood Hills, Mary Kate Fitzergerald- that she didn’t even make in top 20, she has history of being in top 20 and 10 in the past. I have always wanted to meet her and tell her that she’s one of great inspirational person for many of us. I was disappointed that Amanda didn’t place in top 5 as well, my new favorite girl that I watched closely- Natalie Duvalsaint. I also wanted to see Coco Hunter to go far other than top 20. I was also surprised that Alexis Swanstorm didn’t make in top 5, I do believe that she was one of the strongest to win the title. Cierra Jackson is flawless on the stage. I loved watching her. Something about Jenny Ting on that stage got my attention for the last few years and was hoping to see her going far. Anything can happen to anyone— thats something I have learned for the last 3 years!
I also am proud of this amazing girl who can show the world that being deaf doesn’t get in the way! I was in awe of everyones reaction when she got the recognition as Miss Congeniality- Alma Beaty! It was nice to meet someone else is in the pageant world. Congratulations darling.
I know that Natasha is one to watch for the crown. She will be a good Miss USA 2015. I am proud of her to achieve one of her dreams. I remembered it very clearly that I told her a few times that its going to be her year to win Miss CA USA and she did it! I saw her briefly after she as a newly Miss California USA 2015 and we had our special moments and smile to each other.
