PageantRocks came into existence in year of 2011 on Twitter. It began with a personal Twitter account, which made it possible for Matthew Anderson to pursue one of his huge passions – that is to cover various pageants, such as Miss Teen USA, Miss USA, Miss Universe, and many others. PageantRocks was also a contributor for The J*LU Blog site from 2011 – 2012. It was in November 2012 that Matthew thought long and hard about what he wanted for the PageantRocks label. He made a decision to step down as the contributor for The J*LU Blog and form his own site, so that he could also cover state and local pageants, in addition to the national and international ones.
All of this began with conversations Matthew had with other people on Twitter, including pageant contestants. They encouraged him to attend pageants that do not normally receive much attention in social media or even traditional media. Therefore, he started attending state and local pageants. One thing led to another. He started to realize that there was so much to cover at the state and local level, as the contenders diligently worked their way towards the national and international level.
Matthew also noticed that many other states do not receive the same amount of attention as Texas, California, and New York do. He want to give the contenders in other states the recognition they need. It is not all about how big the state is or how beautiful the girls are. It is about how much they can contribute to the pageant arena. Some of them are aspiring to be attorneys, educators, and engineers. It is important that we showcase their talents, their contributions, and their intellect. It is PageantRocks’ goal to one day cover all 50 states, so that girls in each and every state will receive much-deserved recognition for their contributions and tireless efforts, as they compete in pageants. They are, indeed, role models for countless young girls across the nation!
